Gov Abiodun woos Brazilian investors to explore opportunities in Ogun

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has called on Brazilian investors to explore strategic investment opportunities in Ogun, particularly in the establishment of a fertilizer plant within the Olokola Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project corridor.

Speaking at the Ogun State Investment Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil—held on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu—Abiodun showcased Ogun’s readiness for foreign partnerships across various sectors, including oil and gas, agriculture, livestock, mining, renewable energy, tourism, power infrastructure, and youth-focused technical and vocational education.

Highlighting the strategic value of the Olokola region, Abiodun noted its unique location as Nigeria’s deepest sea point, ideal for gas-based industries and large-scale maritime operations.

“We have in our state the Olokola region, which is the deepest sea point in Nigeria. It has been identified as a prime location for a fertilizer plant, and we invite Brazilian investors to partner with us on this initiative,” the governor said.

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, echoed Abiodun’s pitch, describing Ogun as one of the most industrialized states in the country, supported by a robust infrastructure backbone for industry.

Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, also addressed the forum, stressing that Nigeria’s macroeconomic indicators are stabilizing, with improvements in inflation and external balances.

Central Bank Governor, Yemi Cardoso, assured investors of the country’s growing financial stability, noting tighter monetary policies and a declining inflation trend as foundations for long-term economic growth.

The investment summit is part of Ogun State’s aggressive push to attract international capital for accelerated development.
