Governor offers automatic employment to first class graduate in Yobe

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has offered automatic employment to Surayya Kabir, a first-class graduate of Physics Department of Yobe State University (YSU), Damaturu.

The governor’s Director-General of Press and Media Affairs, Mamman Mohammed, made this known via a statement issued on Friday, January 9, 2026.

Kabir was offered an employment as a Graduate Assistant at the Physics Department of YSU.

Mohammed said she earlier presented her appointment letter to the governor for his blessings and expressed her gratitude to the honour bestowed on her and her family.

He quoted Buni as congratulating Kabir for the impressive feat, describing her as a role model for other girls in Yobe State.

The governor said: “You are an excellent ambassador of the girl child education programme in the state. Others should emulate this excellent feat.

“We will continue to ensure that no child in Yobe state is denied education due to his or her economic background.”

Kabir emerged the overall best student of her set with a remarkable 4.84 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).

Her academic feat is unmatched since the establishment of the department in 2006.
