Govt orders Kano LGAs to contribute N670m for Emir Sanusi’s vehicles

The 44 local government areas in Kano State have been directed to contribute a total of N670 million for the repair and purchase of vehicles for the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi.

According to an official memo from the Kano State Ministry of Local Government dated March 25, 2025, each LGA is expected to provide N15.2 million from the State/Local Government Joint Account.

The directive, signed by Abubakar S. Dabo, Director of Local Government Inspection on behalf of the Commissioner for Local Government, outlines that the funds will go to the Kano Emirate Council.

The money will be used to restore two vintage vehicles and purchase four new ones.

Specifically, N25 million is allocated for the full refurbishment of a 1993 Fleetwood Cadillac limousine, and another N25 million for the complete rebuilding of a Daimler D5 420 model from 1998.

The project has been awarded to Sottom Synergy Resources Ltd.

A palace source, who confirmed the development but asked to remain anonymous, said that the company has been contacted and preparations are underway to commence the restoration and procurement.

Copies of the memo were also sent to relevant auditing and inspection officials to ensure due process is followed throughout the disbursement and procurement stages.
