Gunmen abduct health worker in Ondo

Gunmen have kidnapped a staff member of the Federal Medical Centre, Owo in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

It was gathered that the health worker, simply known as Pastor Akesinro, was kidnapped at his residence located at Upenme in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

It was learnt that Akesinro was abducted at about 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Friday.

Lawal said police personnel had begun combing the forests to apprehend the kidnappers and rescue the victim unhurt.

Lawal said the police are in a joint effort with other security agencies to ensure the victim’s rescue while the gunmen are brought to book.

The police boss stated: “Our men are currently inside the bush in collaboration with other sister security agencies and engaging the community to rescue the victim unhurt.

“Let me assure you that we are not resting to ensure the citizens of the state are well secured.”
