Gunmen have abducted four female students of Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University (JOSTUM), formerly known as the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi (FUAM), in Benue State.
It was gathered that the students were abducted by gunmen at about 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that the students were kidnapped at the university’s North Core campus while the victims were heading for a night study session.
The assailants were said to have intercepted six female students, seizing four of them while the other two escaped.

Confirming the incident on Wednesday, the university’s Head of Information, Rosemary Waku, said she had just returned to town and would provide more information after assessing the situation on campus.
The Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Catherine Anene, also confirmed the incident.
“We received information that two students were kidnapped by unknown gunmen. Investigations are ongoing,” Anene said.
