Gunmen kidnap naval officer, others in Anambra

Gunmen have reportedly abducted an operative of the Nigerian Navy in Anambra State, Lt. IS Ozuowa.

It was gathered that the naval officer was kidnapped alongside some yet-to-be-ascertained number of civilians.

Ozuowa was said to have been released from NNS Ologbo last Friday for his ‘Long Course’.

A credible military source disclosed that Ozuowa was abducted by the gunmen at the Upper Iweka area in Onitsha, Anambra State.

“As of the time he was kidnapped, he sent a distress message to Slt Bomadi, the Ag BOO NOP Onitsha.

“The Ag BOO quickly alerted own troops stationed at various checkpoints along different exit routes from Onitsha.

“Also, own QRF was deployed immediately. Efforts are ongoing to rescue the Officer,” the source told PRNigeria.

It was however learned that security operatives have since blocked all entries and exits in Onitsha with the searching of vehicles ongoing to rescue the abducted naval officer and other victims.
