Gunmen kidnap PDP chieftain in Ibadan

Gunmen have abducted a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Benedict Akika, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

An eyewitness said the gunmen stormed Akika’s residence in Ibadan in what appeared to be a well-coordinated attack.

“The gunmen overpowered his security personnel and whisked him away in a vehicle, leaving behind a trail of panic and confusion in the community,” the eyewitness said

The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso confirmed the incident on Thursday, September 5, 2024.

Gunmen kill policeman, set station ablaze in Imo

Osifeso disclosed that the gunmen abducted the PDP chieftain at his residence in Olorunda Abba, Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State on Tuesday evening.

Osifeso said the command had commenced an investigation into the abduction.

He added that the public would be adequately updated as soon as the investigation was concluded on the incident.

“Investigation has commenced into the matter. Updates will be provided accordingly,” the police spokesman said.
