Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted pupils and teachers of a private nursery school in Emure, the headquarters of Emure Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
It was gathered that the teachers and the pupils were abducted after the gunmen accosted the school bus conveying them at about 5 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2024, along Eporo-Ekiti in the Emure area of the state.
Sources, on Tuesday morning, disclosed that six pupils, three teachers, and the bus driver were kidnapped by the gunmen.
The incident occurred the same day gunmen killed two traditional rulers in Oke-Ako in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

The Ekiti State Police Command has however yet to speak on the abduction of the teachers and pupils as of press time.
Meanwhile, the state governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has urged the people of the state not to despair over the abduction, assuring that efforts were ongoing to rescue the pupils and teachers.
Oyebanji, in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, described the abduction as callous and unacceptable, saying nothing would be spared in the efforts to rescue them.
The governor added that security agencies in the state were already on the trail of the abductors with a mandate to rescue the pupils and their teachers unhurt.
Oyebanji said security is being stepped up across Ekiti State with a view to flushing out criminal elements from their hideouts.
While calling on the citizens to remain calm and vigilant, he urged them to cooperate with security agencies by making available relevant information to the authorities.
