Gunmen kill 3 police officers, injure 2 in Katsina

Gunmen have killed three officers in an ambush in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Aliyu Abubakar, confirmed the incident on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Abubakar said: “On Tuesday, at about 12:44 p.m., a team of policemen on routine anti-crime patrol along Guga-Bakori were ambushed by some suspected armed hoodlums shooting sporadically.

“The officers responded bravely, repelling the attack.”

Abubakar stated that three officers were killed during the encounter, while two officers sustained injuries.

Abubakar revealed that the injured police officers were rushed to the nearest hospital and have since been responding to treatment.

The police spokesman added that investigations had since commenced with a view to arresting the perpetrators.
