Gunmen kill Adamawa lawmaker, shoot son

The Deputy Leader of Song Local Government Legislative Council, Adamawa State, Hon. Ishaya Bakano, has been shot dead.

It was gathered that Bakano, who represents Gudu Mboi Ward, was killed at his residence in the early hours of Saturday.

A member of the deceased family, who declined to be named, disclosed that the gunmen also shot the lawmaker’s son, adding that he is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

The incident was confirmed by the Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, noting that efforts were ongoing to arrest the assailants.
