Gunmen kill doctor, kidnap 10 in Zamfara

Gunmen have killed a medical doctor and kidnapped 10 people, including the members of the doctor’s family in Jangebe, Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

It was gathered that the doctor was killed during an attack which occurred at about 1 a.m. on Monday, June 12.

A resident, identified simply as Hamza, disclosed that the assailants shot the doctor dead after forcing themselves into his house and took away his family members and some other residents in the area.

Hamza added that the gunmen also burnt a military vehicle near the victim’s residence.

“We are battling to come to terms with what would have led to the killing of the medical doctor. The whole community was thrown into mourning because the doctor had been very helpful to us.

“Some residents reported hearing a heated argument between the armed men over the killing of the doctor. We heard a voice of one of them scolding those who shot dead the doctor,” he disclosed.

Meanwhile, the Zamfara State Police Command has yet to speak on the incident as of press time.
