Gunmen kill FIRS director in Niger

Gunmen suspected to be terrorists operating in Niger State have killed a director of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Mohammadu Kudu Lawal, in the state.

Lawal was the FIRS coordinator in charge of Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara States.

The deceased was said to be returning to Abuja after visiting his home in Lafiagi Local Government of Kwara State.

It was gathered that Lawal was shot dead while another staff of FIRS sustained injuries in the attack which occurred on Sunday evening in Saminaka, Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State.

It was learnt that the gunmen ambushed the FIRS director’s Hilux vehicle where they killed him and injured one person in the vehicle.
