Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have killed a pastor, Segun Adegboyega, in the Ogbomoso area of Oyo State.
It was gathered that the pastor was killed on his farm at Gege village on Ogbomoso-Iseyin Road, Oyo State, on Monday, January 29, 2024.
It was further learnt that three persons have been arrested in connection with the killing.
The arrested suspects were said to have been moved into the custody of the Owode Police headquarters in Ogbomoso.
Meanwhile, the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Olaoye, has appealed to the people of the town to remain calm over the incident, assuring them that those responsible for the killing would be brought to book.
Addressing the residents after the incident on Monday evening, the monarch promised to work with security agents to get justice for the family of the deceased.
Adeoye said: “As your father, I wish to say, this is an ugly situation and it is uncalled for. I have spoken my mind to the Area Commander of Owode Police headquarters, who is here with me and I want to assure you that justice will be served.
“I equally sympathise with every one of you, may God continue to watch over you and the entire land of Ogbomoso.”
The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, has however yet to speak on the incident as of press time.
