Gunmen raze Ohanaeze President’s house in Imo

The country home of the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof. George Obiozor, in Imo State has been attacked by unknown gunmen.

It was gathered that the Ohanaeze President’s home, situated at Awo-Omanma in the Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State, was attacked in the early hours of Saturday.

The gunmen were said to have arrived at Obiozor’s home in vehicles and threw explosive devices at the house.

It was, however, learned that Obiozor was not at home when the incident occurred.

“The country home of Prof George Obiozor was burnt. The CCTV cameras captured the attack. Thank God Prof was not at home when they came,” PUNCH quoted a source as saying.

Obiozor had yet to respond to an inquiry concerning the attack but one of the leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that he had called Obiozor to commiserate with him on the incident

He, therefore, called on the police to fish out those who carried out the attack.

The police spokesperson in the state, Micheal Abattam, had yet to respond to an inquiry concerning the attack on Obiozor’s country home as of press time.

The attack on Obiozor’s country home occurred the same day the Umuguma Divisional Police Headquarters in the Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State was razed by gunmen.
