Gunmen strike in Akure hospital, kidnap 6 health workers

Suspected gunmen have reportedly invaded a government-owned hospital in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, abducting six workers on duty.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at a Primary Health Centre located in the Oke Ijebu area of Akure, directly opposite Mega School, at about 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026.

Some residents of the area disclosed that the gunmen stormed the facility in a large bus, forcefully gaining entry before abducting the workers on duty.

Police begin probe as gunmen kill woman in Rivers

A patient at the centre, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the assailants took away six staff members, including some interns, without resistance.

The Ondo State Police Command has yet to speak on the incident as of the time of this report.
