A 17-year-old former student of The Ambassadors College, Ota, Ogun State, Oluwafemi Ositade, has secured full ride scholarships to Ivy League universities, including Harvard, in the United States, Canada, and Qatar.

Ositade recorded exceptional performance in the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) with a perfect score in Mathematics (800/800) and 760 out of 800 in reading and writing. He had a CGPA of 4.0/4.0 from The Ambassadors College.

Ositade, a member of the Class of 2023, was the second best in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, with a score of 358.

With his remarkable achievements, Ositade has received 14 scholarships from renowned institutions. Nine of the universities offered full-ride scholarships (covering tuition, accommodation, allowance, and all other student’s expenses).”

The total scholarships secured by the student amounted to $3,511,582.

Harvard University lead the pack with $375,572 scholarship while Brown University and Duke University granted him full ride scholarships amounting to $383,364 and $373,796 respectively.

Other universities that offer him scholarship include: University of Miami, Howard University, University of Toronto Lester B Pearson Scholarship, Wesleyan University, Carnegie Mellon University, Qatar, Stetson University, Fisk University, University of Toronto Mississauga Campus, University of Toronto St. George Campus, University of Toronto Scarborough Campus and Drexel University.

Ositade has a passion for Quantum Computing and Mathematics, and intended to pursue a degree in Computational Physics.

Another former student of the college, Faith Odunsi, a member of 2022 Class, is presently on full scholarship studying Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Odunsi, at 15 in 2021, emerged winner at the Global Open Mathematics competition, where she beat competitors from United States, China, and other countries.

It said: “Oluwafemi’s achievements underscore the plethora of opportunities available for Nigerian youths to thrive on the global academic stage.

“Hailing from Ogun State, a region renowned for producing numerous academic scholars and achievers, Oluwafemi has once again solidified and projected Ogun as the hub of academic champions. His remarkable success adds to the illustrious history of academic excellence associated with Ogun State.

“His academic prowess extends beyond standardized tests. In the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, with a score of 358, he ranked as the second best in Nigeria for the year 2023. Additionally, in the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, Oluwafemi’s results were among the highest in his school, boasting 8A1s and 1B2. It is also worthy of note that Oluwafemi has represented his schools in lots of local and international competitions where he has also proven his academic prowess with many laurels won by himself and his schools.”

Speaking on the development, Ositade said these feats couldn’t have been possible without his zeal and the preparatory efforts of The Ambassadors College, Ota.
