Suspected armed herdsmen have killed no fewer than seven people, including the cousins to the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, in the state.
It was gathered that the victims were killed by the herdsmen following attacks on communities in the Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State on Sunday, October 29.
It was learned that three of the slain victims were Anene’s cousins.
A resident, who declined to be named, disclosed that the communities were attacked in the early hours of Sunday, adding that several people were injured by the assailants.

“Four people were killed at Tse Gamber in the Sengev Council Ward while three others were killed at camp Nagi in the Mbachohon Council Ward located along Naka-Agagbe Road,” the resident told Punch.
Confirming the incident, Anene disclosed that she is from one of the communities, saying three of those killed were her cousins.
“That is my village, three of my cousins were killed and that is the total number,” the police spokesperson said.
