Hoodlums disrupt Edo APC guber primaries results’ announcement

Some suspected political thugs have disrupted the collation of results of the primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the governorship poll in Edo State.

The hoodlums disrupted the exercise while the results were being collated at Lushville Hotel and Suite in Benin, Edo State capital, on Saturday, February 17, 2024.

Results from eight Local Government Areas of the state had already been announced when journalists covering the event were alerted to vacate the centre of the event.

Before journalists could gather their things together, the thugs swooped on the venue after overpowering the police operatives at the gate.

Several journalists, including an NTA cameraman and an FRCN reporter, were manhandled and their equipment scattered.

The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adeboye, who was present with APC officials at the venue of the primary election, failed to stop the disruption by the hoodlums.

The reasons behind the disruption have yet to be ascertained as of press time.
