How conflicting scans led to quadruplets — Woman

A 50-year-old woman, Mrs. Olushola Olonode, has shared how she gave birth to quadruplets after different ultrasound scans produced conflicting reports on the number of babies she was carrying during pregnancy.

Olonode gave the testimony during a thanksgiving service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Solid Rock Parish, Ojodu Berger, Lagos. A video of her testimony was shared by the church on its YouTube channel on Monday.

She told the congregation that she got married on December 12, 2023, after waiting many years and prayed that she would not have to wait again before becoming a mother.

“I had waited for a husband, and I didn’t want to wait again for children,” she said.

According to her, she conceived the following year and her first ultrasound scan indicated she was expecting twins.

“The doctor said, ‘I think I can see twins.’ I told my husband that even if it was just one child, people would stop calling me ‘Mummy Shola,'” she recalled.

However, a second scan by another doctor suggested she was carrying triplets.

“He told me he could see three babies. I reminded him that another doctor had said two, but he insisted he was seeing three,” she said.

During a later visit, the same doctor revised his assessment again, saying he believed she was carrying four babies.

Olonode said she became overwhelmed after the changing scan results, especially after experiencing a bleeding scare during the pregnancy.

“When the doctor said he was seeing four, I told my husband I wasn’t coming back for another scan because I was afraid the next one might say five,” she said.

She eventually delivered two boys and two girls on March 6, 2026, just three weeks before her 50th birthday on March 31.

Reflecting on the birth, she said she was grateful to God for preserving her life and the lives of her children throughout the pregnancy and delivery.

She also recounted her family’s excitement when her husband informed relatives that they had welcomed quadruplets, describing the experience as an unexpected blessing after years of waiting for marriage and children.
