Phase3 telecom reaffirms commitment to expanding broadband access across Nigeria

Leading telecommunications infrastructure provider, Phase3 Telecom, has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening broadband penetration across Nigeria, highlighting more than two decades of investments in digital infrastructure aimed at improving connectivity nationwide.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Executive Committee of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) to the company’s Abuja office, Phase3 Telecom Executive Chairman, Stanley Jegede, said the company has spent the last 23 years building infrastructure that supports mobile network operators, businesses, educational institutions and other key sectors of the economy.

According to him, Phase3 Telecom has deployed infrastructure across all 36 states of the federation, providing the backbone that enables millions of Nigerians to access telecommunications services.

“Our primary focus has been supporting broadband penetration, and we have successfully delivered on that mandate. Much of what we do happens behind the scenes, but the mobile networks Nigerians rely on every day depend significantly on our infrastructure,” Jegede said.

He noted that the company remains committed to expanding broadband access and working with government agencies and regulators to bridge the country’s digital divide and promote digital inclusion.

Jegede also stressed the importance of reliable information in a digitally connected society, linking broadband development to broader socio-economic growth.

He expressed support for initiatives that promote responsible journalism, noting that credible information is essential for national development.

Earlier, GOCOP President, Danlami Nmodu, sought the company’s support for the Guild’s Annual General Meeting scheduled for October 8, 2026, in Lagos.

Nmodu described GOCOP as a platform of professional online publishers committed to ethical journalism and credible reporting, adding that sustained investment in the media industry would strengthen investigative reporting, accountability and good governance.

The GOCOP delegation included the Guild’s General Secretary, Sufuyan Ojeifo, and Publicity Secretary, Kemi Yesufu.

Phase3 Telecom operates one of Africa’s leading independent aerial fibre optic networks and provides telecommunications services across the ECOWAS region while serving clients in more than 400 cities globally through strategic partnerships.
