Huawei Site Power clinches world’s first ML3 cyber security certificate

Huawei Site Power has been issued the Maturity Level 3 (ML3) CB certificate of IEC 62443, an international series of standards on Industrial communication networks and IT security for networks and systems.

The ML 3 is the highest level of IEC 62443 cyber security certificate issued to date.

Huawei’s 5G Power is a next-gen site power solution designed to create a simple, intelligent, and green telecom energy network. It utilizes Huawei’s extensive experience in 5G network evolution, materials science, and key technologies in power, power electronics, thermodynamics, IoT, and AI.

Tested and evaluated by DEKRA, an internationally renowned testing and certification organization, Huawei Site Power passed the IEC 62443-4-1 cyber security certification for its mature and secure design, R&D, manufacturing, delivery, and service throughout the lifecycle. The tests include eight categories, a total of 47 strict standards.

“We are committed to taking effective measures to improve the security of our products and services, ensuring trustworthiness of the entire lifecycle from product development to maintenance. We want to help our customers mitigate security risks. We also build our development and delivery processes into a replicable security system to ensure that Huawei site power facility products meet global customers’ cyber security requirements,” said Peng Jianhua, President of Huawei Site Power Facility Domain during the certificate presentation.

IEC 62443 is a series of standards of network security for industrial automation control proposed by the IEC System for Conformity Assessment Schemes for Electrotechnical Equipment and Components (IECEE). It is the most influential cyber security standard in the field. IEC 62443-4-1 specifies cyber security process requirements applicable to industrial control systems and automation environments, and defines a security development lifecycle assessment standard.

The energy digital transformation is gaining momentum. As the smart foundation of a digital world, power facilities are facing development opportunities and cyber security becomes increasingly important.

The IEC 62443-4-1 ML3 certificate fully demonstrates that Huawei Site Power has reached the world-leading level in terms of cyber security capability and that Huawei can provide secure and trustworthy services for customers. In the future, Huawei Site Power will continue to optimize the R&D of cyber security technologies and focus on application innovation, work with customers and partners to strengthen industrial cyber security, build an open and win-win security ecosystem, ensure efficient and secure power system operation, and accelerate the low-carbon, electrical, and intelligent transformation of site power.
