Nigerian TikToker Peller has recounted how his partner, Jarvis, supported him financially when he was struggling to make money from content creation.
Peller said Jarvis would sometimes give him a portion of her TikTok earnings after noticing that she received significantly more gifts from viewers than he did.
He shared the experience during a conversation with Pastor Tobi, explaining that their relationship had not yet developed romantically at the time.
According to him, Jarvis was making substantial earnings from TikTok while creating content in her village, where viewers regularly sent her gifts.
“I didn’t have anything. This girl could make about $3,000 from TikTok at that time, she would take about $1,000 from what she made and give it to me because she noticed that people weren’t gifting me,” Peller said.
He explained that female content creators often received more financial support from viewers, while male creators could struggle to attract similar gifts.
“You know, one thing about life is that when people see a woman like her, they want to show her their full support. So, they would give her gifts,” he said.
Peller added that the difference in the level of support meant most of the gifts they received were directed towards Jarvis.
“As a man, it would take a long time before I found someone who would gift me anything, so most of the gifts would be directed to her,” he said.
Despite her own earnings and the fact that she was not interested in dating him at the time, Peller said Jarvis continued to support him financially.
“But she would still give me some of what she received. She supported me even though, at that time, she didn’t want to date me,” he said.
Reflecting on their relationship, Peller said Jarvis’ willingness to support him during his difficult period was one of the reasons he believed they would eventually end up together.
