Nigerian music video director TG Omori has revealed that he only began making profits from his work in 2023, after years of financial struggle.
During a recent Q&A session on X, a fan asked Omori how he balances production costs with profit margins when budgeting for music video shoots.
In response, Omori disclosed that he had been in production debt for five years due to tight budgets and unexpected expenses.
“I only started making profits in 2023. Every time I’m losing money from pick-up shoots or something! Budget is never enough; in fact, I was in bad production debt for 5 years,” he wrote.

Omori explained that he often had to borrow money to cover ongoing costs, using income generated from his personal brand and public image to settle debts.
He used the opportunity to highlight the financial challenges many creatives face.
“Just had to live with it, I was paying up and taking more to cover up.
“I was only able to pay it off through the money my brand and personality were fetching me. It’s a tough life for creatives. Hug a creative beside you today,” he added.
Born in Cross River State and raised in Agungi, Lagos, Omori began directing at age 20 after graduating from the PEFTI Film Institute.
Over the years, he has become one of Nigeria’s most celebrated music video directors, known for his distinct style and multiple industry awards.
