The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned an official of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State, Mosudi Osuolale Ashim, over alleged forgery and making false statements.
Ashim was arraigned before the Justice Olalekan Owolabi of the Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan on Monday, March 6, 2023.
The ICPC had filed a three-count charge alleging that the polytechnic official presented a Curriculum Vitae (CV) titled, ‘The Polytechnic, Ibadan – Academic Staff Curriculum vitae for 2018 Annual Assessment’, to the Faculty of Engineering of Ibadan Polytechnic during the Faculty Promotion exercises in 2015, 2016, and 2018.

The commission alleged that the accused claimed to be a registered member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) with registration number R13988, knowing it to be false and with the intent to mislead the polytechnic during the promotion exercise.
Ashim, however, pleaded “not guilty” when the charges were read to him.
The ICPC prosecution team led by Karakaraye F. Adeoluwa stated that the offences are contrary to Section 25 (1a) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 and punishable under Section 25 (1b) of the same Act.
The defence counsel, O. K. Salawu, applied for bail, considering that the accused is a senior citizen.
The prosecution team did not oppose the bail application as the polytechnic official was admitted to bail in the sum of N500,000 and a surety in like sum who must be gainfully employed with a verifiable residential address in Ibadan.
Justice Owolabi, therefore, adjourned the matter till April 19, 2023, for further hearing.
