I’d still be wealthy without football — Osimhen

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has said his strong self-belief and relentless work ethic would have led him to financial success even outside football, recalling how he used to wake as early as 3 a.m. to hustle during his early struggles.

Speaking during a Twitch livestream with comedian Carter Efe in the early hours of Saturday, Osimhen reflected on the mindset that shaped his rise, insisting his success was inevitable regardless of the path he chose.

“I get that belief in myself, even when I was in the trenches when it was tough. The way we had to hustle,” he said, adding that he was always ready to take on any legitimate work at any hour.

The Napoli forward, currently on loan at Galatasaray, is in Nigeria recovering from a broken arm sustained during a UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool.

Osimhen also spoke warmly about his connection with the Istanbul-based club, describing it as more than just a team. According to him, the timing of his move came during a difficult period, and the reception he received made a lasting impact.

“Gala is more than a club for me. We’re meant to cross paths,” he said, praising the club’s culture and the way players are valued.

He noted that the affection extends beyond the team to its global fan base, revealing that even his daughter has developed a strong attachment to the club.

Osimhen concluded that the level of care and support he has experienced at Galatasaray is rare in professional football, with some players spending entire careers without feeling such appreciation.
