IGP deploys tactical team to Kwara over killings

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate deployment of tactical, operational, and intelligence assets to Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State following a deadly attack in the state.

Suspected terrorists attacked Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama LGA on Tuesday night and killed no fewer than 75 residents.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Thursday, February 5, 2026, said the deployment was aimed at restoring calm, strengthening security presence, and preventing further acts of violence.

Hundeyin quoted the IGP as extending his condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of Kwara State over the incident.

“Investigations are already underway, and all available resources have been mobilised to ensure that those responsible are identified, apprehended, and brought to justice. The perpetrators will not escape the long arm of the law,” Hundeyin stated.
