The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, has said Peter Nwachukwu, the husband of the late gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu, would be charged to court if the post-mortem examinations on the deceased ascertained he is responsible for his wife’s death
The IGP further emphasized that considering the sensitive nature of the case and the need to get justice, the FCT Police Command has approached the National Hospital, Abuja, for post-mortem examinations on the deceased to ascertain the cause of Osinachi’s death.
Baba made this known on Wednesday when he received the Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, at the Force headquarters in Abuja.
The famous gospel musician was alleged to have died as a result of the domestic violence perpetrated by her husband.
The husband of the late ‘Ekwueme’ crooner was later arrested by the police.
However, the minister, who was accompanied by some members of the late singer’s family, visited the IGP to ascertain the efforts the police have put in place to ensure swift justice is dispensed on the death of Osinachi.
The IGP, while reacting, noted that the untimely death was heart-breaking as information from sources close to the family and independent witnesses fingered her husband as being responsible for the gospel singer’s death.

He stated that the FCT Police Command, under whose jurisdiction the incident occurred, arrested the deceased’s husband at about 5 pm on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at their residence in Lugbe, Abuja.
Baba further disclosed that the suspect is currently in detention at the FCT Police Command, saying investigations were ongoing.
The IGP stressed that the alleged act was condemnable in all ramifications, saying it was illegal and immoral for a human to take the life of another in any manner contrary to the provisions of the law.
He reiterated the commitment of the police under his leadership to ensuring that cases of this nature including domestic violence, sexual and gender-based violence, rape, and other social vices are accorded utmost attention with a view to bringing their perpetrators to justice according to the provisions of extant laws.
