Ikpeazu: No hiding place for criminals in Abia

Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, says his administration places the highest premium on security of lives and property, saying criminals will no longer find any hiding place in the state.

Ikpeazu said this at the commissioning of the Eastern Ngwa Divisional Police Headquarters building in Umuobiakwa, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State on Tuesday.

The building was commissioned by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba.

According to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, the governor, who appreciated the commanders of the various security services in the state for their cooperation and hardwork, urged the IGP to continue to encourage police officers for optimal performance.

Governor IKpeazu, while recalling that his administration completed and handed over the brand new Zone 9 Police Headquarters Umuahia to the police, assured that it would continue to provide logistics to security agencies to enable them discharge their duties effectively.

He stated that the cordial working relationship between the state government and security agencies has yielded positive results, adding that the prevailing peace in the state was over the robust working relationship with all security agencies in the state.

Speaking at the event, Baba, who described the police station of being up to international standard, noted that it was furnished with 24 hours power which will aide the job of the police officers.

The IGP said Governor Ikpeazu has through the facility brought motivation and encouragement to the Nigerian Police Force, saying the officers will justify the gesture with improved performance.

He further thanked the governor for building the police headquarters and for launching an ICT-driven security architecture in line with international best practices, adding that Ikpeazu has through the gesture entered the “Guinness Record Book as police most friendly governor”.
