INEC releases final list of 122 Ondo lawmakers

The Independent National Electoral Commission has published the final list of 122 candidates contesting the 2027 National Assembly elections in Ondo State.

The list comprises 31 candidates for the three senatorial districts and 91 candidates for the House of Representatives seats in the state.

The commission also published the names of 18 presidential candidates and their political parties as part of the final list for the January 2027 general elections.

The Head of Voter Education and Publicity in Ondo State, Ogunseye Olayinka, announced the development in a statement issued on Sunday on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mutiu Agboke.

Olayinka said the publication was carried out in line with the timetable and schedule of activities approved by the commission for the elections.

He said September 12 was the deadline for publishing the final list of presidential and National Assembly candidates.

“In fulfilment of this timeline, the commission has on this day, forwarded and published the final list of candidates for these elections, pursuant to Section 32(1) of the Electoral Act, 2026,” the statement said.

According to INEC, the publication marks another stage in preparations for the presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for January 2027.

The commission urged political parties, candidates and members of the public to visit its state and local government offices across Ondo to inspect the published list.

Olayinka said the commission remained committed to conducting elections that are free, fair, transparent, credible and inclusive.

He added that the outcome of the elections would be determined by votes lawfully cast and counted in accordance with the law.

“Nothing shall determine the winner of any election other than the votes lawfully cast by the people and duly counted in accordance with the law,” he said.
