The Adamawa State Government has announced the cancellation of all activities planned for the crossover night on December 31, 2025, at the Unity Fly-Over in Jimeta, Yola.
The festivities were meant to usher in the new year on January 1, 2026.
In a statement, Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, explained that the decision followed credible intelligence reports regarding potential security threats.
Wonosikou emphasized that the safety and security of citizens remain the government’s top priority.
He added that the state will continue collaborating with security agencies to maintain peace and stability.
The statement urged residents, particularly in Yola North and South local government areas, to remain vigilant, avoid crowded places, and report any suspicious activity to authorities.
