In a bid to restore peace and prevent further violence, the Taraba State Police Command has convened a high-level peace and reconciliation meeting in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area (LGA), following recent clashes between the Fulani and Bandawa communities.
The meeting, held on Thursday and led by Commissioner of Police Emmanuel S. Bretet, brought together critical stakeholders, including the local council chairman, traditional rulers, and representatives from various cultural and religious groups.
The unrest, which affected several communities such as Bandawa, Munga Doso, Nguroje Jabu, and Wuro Guga, had sparked fears of continued violence and prompted swift action by security forces.
Community leaders shared harrowing accounts of the conflict and expressed concerns over possible retaliatory attacks.

They commended the prompt intervention by law enforcement and called for sustained efforts to maintain peace.
Commissioner Bretet emphasized the need for unity and warned against the spread of hate speech and misinformation, stating that any future breaches of peace would be met with legal consequences.
