Members of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) in Niger State have shut down operations in the state, following the killing of a filling station attendant by an officer of the Nigerian Air Force on Monday.
The order was issued by the Niger IPMAN chairman, Adamu Erena, on Tuesday in solidarity with one of the association members whose staff was killed by the NAF officer.
Erena however stated that the closure of all independent fuel stations was necessary to punish the masses and drive home their point and mourn the loss of the fuel attendant.
He noted that the association has yet to decide when to resume activities just as he called on the Air Force and government to ensure that justice is served, adding that the military personnel had no right to shoot an armless civilian.

The IPMAN state chairman further stated that the association would not allow the issue go without justice being served.
“The boy didn’t do anything wrong to them and his family must be compensated for this wickedness,” Erena added.
The Star had reported that the fuel attendant was killed after an argument broke out between the leader of the security personnel and the manager of the station.
An eyewitness disclosed that one of the military officers slapped the manager, prompting the attendant, who was said to be a brother to him, to defend the manager as he quickly left the filling station and returned with a cutlass and a dagger.
It was gathered that the attendant, after his return to the filling station, stabbed the leader of the military personnel on his hand before one of the officers shot him (the attendant).
It was learnt that the attendant was rushed to Minna General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
