The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has awarded N500 million to 12 tertiary institutions in the country for sterling performances.
The awards for different categories were won by federal, state, and private institutions comprising universities, a polytechnic, and a College of Education.
The institutions were ranked for the 2020 JAMB National Tertiary Admissions’ Performance-Merit Award (NATAP-M Award).
The University of Ilorin in Kwara State won N75 million for the institution of First Choice category, while Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Kaduna State, and Bayero University Kano won second and third to receive N15 million and N10 million, respectively.
According to the examination body, Kaduna Polytechnic emerged as the most national institution, followed by Ahmadu Bello University, and Afe Babalola University which enabled them obtained N75 million, 15 million, and N10 million, respectively.

On the category of the Most Improved Institution on Gender Balance, Federal University Lafia came first with FCT College of Education, Zuba, as second, while Abia State University came third getting N100 million split into N75 million, N15 million and N10 million.
The Ahmadu Bello University also got N75 million for being the institution with the highest number of international students, followed closely by University of Maiduguri, Borno State, which received N15 million, and Nile University which got N10 million.
JAMB further awarded the sum of N75 million to Covenant University as the Most Compliant Institution in keeping to the guidelines, while Universities of Ibadan and Maiduguri were awarded N15 million and N10 million in the category as runner-up and second runner-up respectively.
