Jigawa govt disburses N1.2bn to 550 retirees

Jigawa State Government has disbursed N1.2 billion retirement benefits to 550 retirees in the state.

The Executive Secretary, Jigawa State and Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme Board, Kamilu Aliyu, made this known while speaking to newsmen in Dutse, the state capital on Monday.

He said the disbursement would cover payment to workers who retired from service between March and June 2022.

Aliyu stated that the payment include retirement benefit, death benefit, death pension balance, and refund of eight per cent contribution.

He revealed that 191 of the beneficiaries retired from the state service, while 146 and 214 retired from local government and local education authorities.

He added that N501 million would be disbursed to 191 beneficiaries from the state service, and N213 million to 145 beneficiaries from local government, while 214 beneficiaries of the LEAs would receive N500 million.

Aliyu noted that the board was up-to-date in the payment of entitlement to retirees, including those who died in active service.

He, however, assured workers of the state government’s commitment to improving their welfare.
