Jubilation in Oyo as kidnapped family regains freedom after Igboho’s ultimatum

Residents of Igboho in Oyo State erupted in celebration after a kidnapped family, including a pregnant woman, her children and a sibling, reportedly regained their freedom following a two-hour ultimatum issued by Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo.

Videos circulating on social media showed residents singing, dancing and rejoicing over the return of the victims.

The development came hours after Sunday Igboho issued a stern warning to Fulani community leaders in the area over increasing cases of kidnapping and insecurity.

Addressing community representatives and traditional leaders in an earlier viral video, the activist expressed anger over alleged killings and abductions in Igboho, accusing some members of the Fulani community of being involved in the crimes.

He also referenced incidents involving a pregnant woman and ransom negotiations that allegedly ended in tragedy.

“The person who brought the ransom, you still killed him and spared only one person,” he said, warning that such incidents must not be repeated.

Igboho subsequently gave a two-hour deadline for the release of abducted residents, stating that he had exercised restraint in deference to appeals from traditional rulers.

“I am Sunday Igboho. I am calm because my fathers asked me to be calm with you. Let this be the last time such a thing will happen,” he said.

He further warned that failure to release the victims would trigger decisive action, including entering forests he claimed were being used as hideouts by kidnappers.

Following the ultimatum, videos emerged showing jubilant residents celebrating the release of the abducted family. However, details surrounding the circumstances of their release remained unclear as of the time of filing this report.
