Kaduna State is set to host one of Africa’s largest poultry projects following a strategic partnership between Nigeria and China aimed at boosting agricultural productivity, job creation, and food security.
Governor Uba Sani made the announcement after receiving the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Yu Dunhai, and the leadership of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP) during a high-level meeting in Kaduna devoted to strengthening cooperation in agriculture and investment.
Sani described the engagement as a “defining stride” in Kaduna’s mission to attract transformative partnerships that will reinforce its position as a continental hub for agricultural and industrial excellence.
During the meeting, the governor expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for selecting Kaduna as the pilot state for the Nigeria-China Poultry Project, calling the decision a reaffirmation of Kaduna’s status as Nigeria’s agricultural heartland.
“With agriculture contributing 43 percent to our GDP and employing more than 60 percent of our citizens, this partnership will accelerate our pursuit of higher productivity, sustainable growth, food security, and broad-based prosperity,” Governor Sani stated.
Ambassador Yu Dunhai commended the rapid development taking place across Kaduna and the renewed investor confidence that has positioned the state as a preferred destination for international investments.
Similarly, NCSP Director-General Joseph Tegbe lauded the Kaduna State Government’s commitment, citing the swift approval and allocation of over 7,000 hectares of land for the project’s immediate commencement.
Under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Infrastructure Fund, executed through a Special Purpose Vehicle in collaboration with the Chinese Government and the Kaduna State Government, construction of the Nigeria-China Poultry Project is scheduled to begin in December 2025.
The project will span 10,000 hectares, incorporating maize and soybean cultivation to support feed production.
It is expected to generate $450 million in revenue, create 50,000 direct and over 300,000 indirect jobs, and establish one of Africa’s largest poultry facilities—producing over one million eggs daily.
The Governor reaffirmed Kaduna’s commitment to the partnership, describing it as one built on “mutual respect, shared vision, and the promise of enduring prosperity.”
