Kaduna govt partners NBTE on skills acquisition

The Kaduna State Government has announced a partnership with the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) on skills acquisition in the state.

The Kaduna State Commissioner of Business Innovation and Technology, Patience Fakai, made this known in a statement on Sunday, January 26, 2025.

Fakai said Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani is committed to transforming the state into the nation’s skills hub, by providing institutions that will give artisans the requisite training and certification.

The commissioner stated that the effort is part of the governor’s policy of Human Capital Development.

She noted that Sani established the Skills Development Council which comprises her ministry, the Ministry of Sports Development, the Ministry of Local Government Affairs, and the Ministry of Human Services and Social Development.

Fakai disclosed that she led officials of her ministry to meet with the NBTE Executive Secretary, Prof. Idris Bugaje, in furtherance of the governor’s objective on Saturday, January 25.

Uba Sani: I’ll make Kaduna grape-farming hub in Nigeria

Fakai said the Kaduna State Government has started building three vocational and technology skills acquisition centres in the three senatorial districts of the state.

According to her, the skills acquisition centres are located in Soba, Rigachukun, and Samarun Kataf in Soba, Igabi, and Zangon Kataf Local Government Areas, respectively.

The commissioner further stated that the aim of the centres was to equip the people of Kaduna State to acquire skills of the 21st century in order to be independent and self-employed.

Fakai said the Kaduna State Government is remodelling Panteka Market in Kaduna to become a major centre of skills acquisition which will engage about 40,000 artisans, adding that necessary infrastructure has been put in place in the location.

She noted that her Ministry was collaborating with NBTE to provide Nigerian Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) certification for graduates of the three skills centres and Panteka Market.
