A member of the Zazzau Emirate Council in Kaduna State, Rilwan Pate, has slumped and died while attending an event in Zaria Local Government Area of the state.
Until his death, the deceased was in charge of health matters in the Zazzau Emirate Council.
It was gathered that the traditional ruler was attending the event along with the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Nuhu Bamalli, when the incident occurred on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
The deceased, who was the ‘Sarkin Yakin Zazzau’, was said to be with the Emir of Zazzau at the event when he slumped and was rushed to the Gambo Sawaba General Hospital in Zaria where he was confirmed dead.

The media and publicity officer of the Zazzau Emirate Council, Abdullahi Kwarbai, confirmed the incident via a statement on Saturday, February 1.
“It is with great sadness that the Zazzau Emirate Council announces the passing of Sarkin Yakin Zazzau, Alhaji Rilwan Yahaya Pate, a Council Member of the Emirate,” the council stated.
The late Pate has been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
