The Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital (FNPH), Kaduna, has directed newly recruited nurses employed in 2025 to immediately resume duty following reports of widespread absence without official leave.
In an internal memorandum dated February 6, 2026, and issued by the Office of the Head of Clinical Services, the hospital management expressed concern over what it described as unauthorized absenteeism among the affected staff.
The memo, referenced FNPH/KD/720 and addressed to the Head of Nursing Services, stated that several newly employed nurses had failed to report to their duty posts without obtaining approval, an action the hospital said contravenes the Public Service Rule (PSR) 030301 on misconduct.
“It has been observed with dismay that the newly recruited nurses employed for 2025 have been absent from their duty posts without leave.
“This is an act of misconduct,” the statement read.
Management subsequently ordered all affected nurses to return to their duty posts within 24 hours or face sanctions in line with the Public Service Rules.
The directive was signed by Dr. Hayatudeen N., Head of Clinical Services, who emphasized compliance to avoid disciplinary measures.
The development comes amid ongoing efforts to strengthen staffing and service delivery at the federal health facility.
