Kano APC leaders strategize to unseat NNPP, back Tinubu’s re-election

Top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State have vowed to reclaim the governorship from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) while mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid.

At a strategy meeting held in Abuja on Thursday, former APC National Chairman and ex-Kano Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, Senator Kabiru Gaya, former SSG Suleiman Bichi, and other party stalwarts reaffirmed their loyalty to Tinubu and confidence in the party’s strength in Kano.

Ganduje told journalists that the gathering reviewed APC’s prospects, adding that the party remains united and is attracting defectors from the NNPP, including former lawmakers, commissioners, and senior government officials.

“We are solidly behind President Tinubu.

“His reforms and appointments have greatly benefited Kano, and we are determined to reclaim the state in 2027,” he said.

Echoing the position, Barau praised Tinubu’s impact on Kano and the North, citing federal appointments and key infrastructure projects.

He described the party as “growing from strength to strength” under the president’s leadership.

House of Representatives Appropriations Committee Chairman Abubakar Kabiru Abubakar highlighted major projects underway in Kano, including the nearly completed Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano road, the Kano–Maiduguri expressway, and preparations for a $1 billion light rail project expected to begin soon.

He pledged that APC would deliver far more than the 600,000 votes it secured for Tinubu in 2023.

The leaders resolved to intensify grassroots mobilisation, consolidate party unity, and build momentum ahead of the 2027 polls, framing APC as Kano’s path to stability and federal support.
