Kano gov fires two aides over drug baron bail, palliative diversion

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has dismissed two senior aides over their alleged involvement in the controversial bail of a suspected drug baron and the diversion of palliative grains.

The decision, announced on Saturday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, followed damning findings from separate investigative committees.

Abubakar Umar Sharada, Senior Special Assistant on Political Mobilisation, was found to have masterminded the bail of suspected drug kingpin Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu. According to the SSG, Sharada’s own testimony confirmed his direct role in securing the bail.

In a separate probe, Tasiu Adamu Al’amin Roba, Senior Special Assistant in the Cabinet Office, was indicted for allegedly rebagging and diverting palliative grains in 2024 at a warehouse in Sharada. He has been arraigned on charges of theft and criminal conspiracy.

Both men have been ordered to return all government property in their possession by Monday, August 11, 2025, and to desist from presenting themselves as government officials.

However, the Governor cleared Hon. Musa Ado Tsamiya, Special Adviser on Drainages, of any wrongdoing after an investigative panel exonerated him.

Governor Yusuf reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, warning appointees to uphold the highest standards of integrity.

He also cautioned the public against conducting government-related business with the dismissed aides.

“Our commitment to discipline, transparency, and zero tolerance for corruption is unwavering,” Yusuf stated.

“Any public official found wanting will face the consequences, without exception.”
