Kano govt seeks to bar Kwankwaso from entering state – Buba Galadima

A chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has accused Abba Kabir-Yusuf, Governor of Kano State, of writing to the Federal Government to prevent the party’s national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, from visiting the state.

Galadima made the claim during an interview with DCL Hausa on Thursday, linking it to reported moves by the United States Congress to impose a visa ban on Kwankwaso over allegations of Christian persecution.

He described the Kano government’s action as an attempt to hinder Kwankwaso’s movement, saying, “We are awaiting the response of the Federal Government… Unless there are no judges in the country, we will challenge anybody.”

He dismissed the allegations of Christian persecution as politically motivated, alleging that the APC-led government had planned various intimidations to pressure Kwankwaso into joining the ruling party.

“The Kwankwaso that I know is a warrior — fearless and a one-man battalion. He has vowed not to join the APC or any other party except certain conditions in the public interest are met,” Galadima said.

The NNPP chieftain further alleged that government officials had threatened Kwankwaso with arrest, humiliation, and other forms of pressure, but said the party remained unshaken.

Speaking on the party’s strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections, Galadima stated that NNPP would act in the best interest of its supporters and the Nigerian people.
