A Kano State High Court has sentenced Adamu Isma’ila Arzai to death by hanging for the murder of his friend, Auwai Shehu Kanata, during a dispute in 2016.
Presided over by Justice Muhammad Musa Karaye, the court heard that the incident occurred while the two men were traveling to Bauchi State for a business trip.
An argument reportedly broke out between them over a cap, which escalated into a physical fight. During the altercation, Adamu stabbed Shehu multiple times, resulting in his death.
Prosecutor Wahida Isma’il presented five witnesses during the trial to support the case.
In his ruling, Justice Karaye stated that the prosecution had proven the case beyond reasonable doubt and accordingly sentenced Adamu to death by hanging.
