Kano man sues wife for ₦65,000 phone theft

A newlywed man, Usman Ali, has dragged his wife, Maryam, before a Sharia Court in Jaba, Kano State, accusing her of stealing three mobile phones worth ₦65,000.

At the hearing, Maryam denied the allegation, telling the court she had fled from Abuja to Kano to escape repeated physical abuse from her husband. She said she returned to her parents’ home for safety.

Usman also lodged complaints against three of Maryam’s friends, claiming they were a bad influence and encouraged her to engage in inappropriate behavior.

Presiding Judge, Ustaz Rabiu Yahaya, granted Maryam bail and adjourned the case until July 15 for further proceedings.
