Kano provides transport, escorts for returning exchange students

The Kano State Government has deployed dedicated vehicles and official escorts to return students participating in the National School Exchange Programme to their home states following the end of the 2025/2026 academic session.

The exercise, coordinated by the state Ministry of Education, covers students from the 19 northern states taking part in the programme.

In a statement on Thursday by the ministry’s Director of Public Enlightenment, Musbahu Aminu Yakasai, the students were assembled at Rumfa College before departing for their respective states.

The ministry said each participating state was assigned a vehicle and an official escort responsible for ensuring the students arrived safely and were handed over to their parents or guardians.

The transportation was supervised by the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Mallam Auwal Mustapha Muhammad, alongside members of the School Exchange Programme Committee.

To ease the journey, the state government also provided each student with a refreshment allowance to cover feeding and other minor travel expenses.

According to the ministry, the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to student welfare and the smooth implementation of the National School Exchange Programme, which promotes national unity, cultural integration and mutual understanding among young Nigerians.

Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner for Education, Dr Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Bashir Baffa Muhammad, commended members of the School Exchange Programme Committee and other officials for successfully coordinating the exercise.

He wished the students a safe journey and thanked parents and guardians for their continued support of the programme.
