The Kano State Government has received the report of a fact-finding committee investigating the alleged involvement of Commissioner for Transport, Ibrahim Namadi, in facilitating the bail of a suspected drug trafficker, Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu.
In a statement on Monday, the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the committee formally presented its findings to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Farouk Ibrahim.
The committee, chaired by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Justice and Constitutional Matters, Barrister Aminu Hussain, said it conducted a thorough, impartial, and evidence-based investigation. The panel interviewed the commissioner—who also submitted a written statement—and other key figures linked to the case, including Abubakar Umar Sharada, Senior Special Assistant on Political Mobilisation, and Musa Ado Tsamiya, Special Adviser on Drainages.
Hussain added that the committee engaged relevant legal and security bodies such as the State Security Service (SSS), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), while reviewing certified documents and relevant laws to ensure a credible outcome.
He praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for not interfering with the investigation, saying the governor’s hands-off approach reflected a strong commitment to transparency and due process.
In response, the SSG commended the committee for its professionalism and integrity. “You’ve handled a sensitive matter under intense public scrutiny with resilience and credibility,” Farouk said, adding that the report would be submitted to the governor immediately for further review and necessary action.
The state government is expected to act on the committee’s recommendations following its assessment of the report.
