The Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State is set to graduate 4,365 undergraduate students.

The FUDMA Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu-Bichi, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Dutsinma on Thursday as part of the preparations for the institution’s 7th and 8th combined convocation scheduled for Saturday, December 2.

Hamisu-Bichi 112 of the students graduated with first class degrees, 1,131 with second class upper, 2,476 with second class lower, and 646 have third class.

The Vice-Chancellor further revealed that for the first time in the history of the university, they were graduating 401 postgraduate students.

Hamisu-Bichi said out of the postgraduate students, 11 are PhD graduates, 68 have academic masters, 75 professional masters, and 149 postgraduate diplomas.

As part of the event, the FUDMA VC said the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibril, will on Friday deliver a lecture with a topic, ‘Harnessing the Power of Education, Technology and Innovation in Tackling Insecurity’.

He stated that during the convocation, the former governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shema, Emir of Daura, Umar Faruk-Umar, and that of Bichi in Kano State, Nasir Ado-Bayero would be conferred with honorary doctorate degrees.

Hamisu-Bichi further assured that all the necessary security arrangements have been put in place to ensure the safety of the people during and after the convocation ceremony.

The VC also assured that they were doing everything possible in collaboration with the security agencies to ensure the release of the remaining four abducted students of the institution.

Five female students of the university were recently kidnapped by bandits and one of them was later released.

Hamisu-Bichi added that during his three years in office, he had achieved a lot, saying despite the successes, there were still challenges.
