The Kogi State House of Assembly has suspended the Chairman of Ibaji Local Government Area, Emmanuel Onuche, over alleged gross misconduct.
The Speaker of the House, Aliyu Yusuf, announced the chairman’s suspension during plenary on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
Onuche was alleged to have undertook some actions capable of tarnishing the image of the Kogi State Government and was asked to step down for investigation into the allegations.
The lawmakers directed Onuche to hand over the affairs of the council to his vice, Victoria Okolo, pending the conclusion of investigations.

The lawmakers said an effective investigation into the allegations against the embattled chairman will not be possible if he remains in office.
The speaker, therefore, constituted a five-member committee headed by the lawmaker representing Ogori-Magongo, Bode Ogunmola, to investigate the allegations against Onuche.
The House gave the committee one month to complete the assignment and report back to the lawmakers for necessary action.
