Lagos Free Zone awards N2.7m scholarships to 23 students

Lagos Free Zone has awarded N2.7 million in scholarships to 23 students from its host communities, with beneficiaries receiving between N100,000 and N150,000 each to support their education.

The scholarships were presented at the company’s annual award ceremony on Monday, October 19, 2026, as part of its efforts to promote education and youth development.

Eight students received N150,000 each, while 15 others were awarded N100,000 each.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lagos Free Zone, Adesuwa Ladoja, said the programme was designed to ease the financial burden on students and expand access to educational opportunities.

She urged beneficiaries and their guardians to remain committed to academic excellence, stressing the importance of discipline, dedication and consistent effort.

“Education is one of the most important investments we can make in the future of our communities. Through our scholarship programme, we aim to support students in their academic journeys, encourage them to pursue their aspirations and help create opportunities for them to contribute meaningfully to society,” Ladoja said.

She added that the initiative went beyond financial assistance, describing it as an investment in young people and the long-term development of their communities.

Lagos Free Zone, Nigeria’s first privately developed special economic zone, is promoted by Tolaram and located in Lagos State.

The scholarship scheme forms part of the company’s wider community development initiatives, which also include the Tolaram Science Challenge, aimed at encouraging educational achievement among young people in its host communities.

In 2025, the company supported 20 students through the programme, eight of whom graduated. Four obtained Bachelor of Science degrees, while the other four earned National Diplomas.

Three of the graduates have since secured employment within the Zone, according to the company.

Lagos Free Zone said it would continue supporting education, skills development and initiatives aimed at improving the socioeconomic prospects of its host communities.
