Lagos govt seals 5 hotels over environmental infractions

The Lagos State Government has sealed five hospitality establishments in the Ikorodu area of the state over alleged persistent violations of environmental regulations.

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), in a statement issued on Monday, July 27, 2026, said the hotels failed to comply with the agency’s directives despite repeated warnings, notices, and opportunities to rectify the identified infractions.

LASEPA noted that the affected facilities were found to have contravened environmental regulations and failed to comply with enforcement directives issued by the agency.

The agency added that the enforcement exercise was carried out in line with the directives of the Lagos State Government to ensure strict compliance with environmental laws, protect public health, and promote a safe and sustainable environment for all residents.

LASEPA listed the affected hotels to include Docklands Hotels, located behind Satz Superstore and Pharmacy, Ijede Road, Ikorodu – sealed for environmental infractions and non-compliance with the Agency’s directives.

Royal Tree Hotel & Suite, located on Emiola Odutayo Street, Gberigbe Road, Ikorodu – sealed for non-compliance with the Agency’s directives.

Rivera Hotel, located at Engr. Wole Agbesola, by Tinubu Estate, Ijede Road, Ikorodu – sealed for non-compliance with the Agency’s directives.

Medallion Hotel, located on Lukman Onabanjo Street, Aga, Ikorodu, Lagos – sealed for non-compliance with the Agency’s directives.

Daval Spring Hotel, located on Shopeyin Street, Owode-Ibeshe, Ikorodu, Lagos – sealed for non-compliance with the Agency’s directives.

Speaking on the enforcement operation, the General Manager of LASEPA, Dr Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to protecting public health and preserving the environment through strict enforcement of environmental laws across Lagos State.

Ajayi stressed that compliance with environmental regulations is a collective responsibility and warned that LASEPA would continue to intensify its monitoring and enforcement operations against individuals and corporate organisations whose activities threaten public health and environmental sustainability.

He urged business owners, facility operators, and residents to adopt environmentally responsible practices, comply with all regulatory requirements, and cooperate with the agency in its continuous efforts to build a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Lagos.

The General Manager reiterated that LASEPA remains resolute in ensuring that all facilities operating within Lagos State adhere strictly to environmental standards, noting that enforcement actions will continue against any establishment that disregards the state’s environmental laws.
